Manifesto Project Redux Ver. 1056876542244321188

February 18th, 2009 | Category: Selling the Dang Thing, The Show

Manifesto Graffiti WallA couple of new relationships are brewing.

And yes, I know we sound like a broken record.

After our meetings with the UK based prodcos went so well, who knew what would happen. We thought great things, but the main company we were dealing with went out of business due to the economic situation. Kind of sucks because they were adept at co-producing socially conscious, controversial television.

But it’s just another page in our book of attempts at bringing this idea to the masses in a very big way. Ambition is an amazing trait amongst artists but it can be a cruel mistress as well.

There is good news though. We are in early discussions with a couple of folks. Nothing remotely solid yet. But we’ll keep you informed of any developments. The other good news is…. we’re finally putting our network promo online. Yep. We’re doing it. Finally.

It’s not really meant for public viewing, but we think you deserve to see the hard work we put into it. It will be posted here in the next couple of days. It will also introduce you to our amazing co-host Amber Arbucci.

As a heads up, a lot of details are left out of the blog because of different people looking at the project who are interested in making a series. Those details are often published in our newsletter, which you can sign up for here.

Manifesto comes home!

November 01st, 2008 | Category: Photos, Selling the Dang Thing, The Show

Manifesto It’s O-fficial. Manifesto has returned from the UK.

It was a nice trip and we look forward to filling you in on the details from it’s travels overseas meeting UK based prodcos.

Overall the response in the UK was very positive. Many folks are interested in the manifesto project and we basically have to decide what format to go with at this point and then decide which partner is best.

We’ll write more once we have a few things ironed out.

Our sales agent is taking the show to the UK. With the goal being to set it up at a company over there. France and other parts of Europe will follow shortly thereafter as he is taking several meetings.

Many other opportunities have opened up in the US. We will keep you tuned as they develop.

Wish us luck. We won’t need it!!!

We’ve got new network interest from a couple of channels for MANIFESTO. We’re prepping a few meetings at the moment.

We’ll put up some short behind the scenes clips from the show shortly.

Questions we’ve been asked lately by tv networks

February 28th, 2008 | Category: Manifesto: Television, Selling the Dang Thing

“What happened to the ABC deal?”

“Where is the ending of _____’s segment?’

“Where did Scott get his wardrobe?”

“Why would the audience want to watch the program, is there a huge demand for this kind of programs?”

What a bunch of unimportant BS we have to deal with. This is not only a new tv show, it’s a GD new genre. Deal with it!

I’m sick of questions. Let’s DO THIS!

As for network news, we’ve got a new in at R.J. Cutler’s company and two other major prodcos.

We’ll let you know how it goes, it’s going to be an amazing 008!

Ouch Manifesto

November 30th, 2007 | Category: Selling the Dang Thing, The Show

Ruthy Bolton Holyfield nieceI don’t want to write this post. I don’t even want to write the next sentence.

The deal we thought we had with the big 5 network. The deal we’ve been talking to them about for almost 3 months… THE deal where we were surrounded by a table full of six network types by our second meeting… Is dead. It’s not happening.

The words of D. were “it’s a pass.”

Shite.

He said that “they didn’t know what to do with it.” Which, we’ve been in business long enough to know, is a simple brush off. The show is so well developed and packaged at this point that there is little to “figure out.”

Anyway, another 3 months, another dead deal. TV is a factory folks, watch your backs.

When it comes down to who makes the decisions, it’s as corporate there as any bank, mortgage firm, or widget manufacturer.

I’m losing patience with these fuckers.

Manifesto lives regardless of any deal.

New Meetings + MANIFESTO Pilot

We have new interest on the horizon from two companies.

Namely a TV production company out of New York with 3 big shows on the air. Another is mostly a film production company notable for doing socially conscious film and television projects. Name one of the biggest docs of last year. They produced it.

That said, the G’dang Manifesto pilot is nearly finished. Whew. What a load of work…

The doc is rocking forward and was just entered into Sundance. Next is Slamdance, deadline is Tuesday.
