New York Manifesto Photos

October 02nd, 2008 | Category: Manifesto: Television, Photos, Production

Here are a few photos from the shoot in New York. And a quick anecdote from the crew.

It rained most of the day that Friday.

“Alright update. The rain has abated and we are getting Scott’s manifesto on the roof. It’s gonna look great with fog rolling over parts of the skyline…”

Manifesto en espanol

September 03rd, 2008 | Category: Manifesto: Television, Manifestoweb, Press

NBC-LAX blog about manifestoAre you a spanish speaker?

Check out Irene’s blog. She wrote about our last shoot with Amber

I’d provide an excerpt but apparently it’s not easily translated.

I just have to say, as a general thought, it blows my mind how little people understand about the business of television. Actually… I have to retract that because frankly I didn’t understand it until I started working to get this show on the air. I now think I have a decent understanding of tele-vision. I kinda wish I didn’t. Actually, maybe it is best to know.

If you can, read Irene’s post. I have a feeling it’s entertaining. Check out the track list in the player and compare with the subject of the article.

But don’t believe everything you read :-)

Questions we’ve been asked lately by tv networks

February 28th, 2008 | Category: Manifesto: Television, Selling the Dang Thing

“What happened to the ABC deal?”

“Where is the ending of _____’s segment?’

“Where did Scott get his wardrobe?”

“Why would the audience want to watch the program, is there a huge demand for this kind of programs?”

What a bunch of unimportant BS we have to deal with. This is not only a new tv show, it’s a GD new genre. Deal with it!

I’m sick of questions. Let’s DO THIS!

January 09th, 2008 | Category: Manifesto: Television, Selling the Dang Thing

Happy 2008!

It took us 8 days to wish you a Happy New Year. We’re slacking, but there’s good reason for it. We’ve been busy putting the final touches on the Manifesto pilot. It goes in the mail tomorrow!

As for network news, we’ve got a new in at R.J. Cutler’s company and two other major prodcos.

We’ll let you know how it goes, it’s going to be an amazing 008!

Good News

November 18th, 2007 | Category: Manifesto The documentary, Manifesto: Television, Production

That’s what’s happening.

Famed Hollywood publicist Michael Levine has come onboard MANIFESTO: Television. He will be providing publicity services for the film.

From his bio:

Called by USA Today, “one of Hollywood’s brightest and most respected executives,” Levine has been responsible for public relations campaigns for, among others, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Charlton Heston, Linda Evans, Jon Voight, Suzanne Somers, Demi Moore and Michael J. Fox. His clients have run from movie & TV stars, to sports heroes, to music figures, comics, producers and multi-national corporations. ”

He is the author of Guerilla P.R. among other best-selling tomes about modern public relations.

Need we say more? Well, maybe so. Let’s just say it’s amazing to have him onboard.

We will be shooting some of our meetings behind the scenes so you can see him in action. Can you dig it?

So, What is Manifesto?

October 29th, 2007 | Category: Issues, Manifesto: Television, The Show

manifesto definitionOUR DEFINITION OF MANIFESTO:
Manifesto is more than a television show. It is a movement of like minded inviduals who are concerned about the future of the planet.

Our generation faces great challenges. We are at a unique point in history, where the call to action is more immediate than it has ever been before.

This is causing people worldwide to reevaluate their priorities and focus on what they want for themselves and for the world.

Whether you are concerned with the state of the global environment, human rights, poverty, or water rights, is not the issue. The issue is that these realities cannot be denied. We must face them head on or become their prey.

SOLUTIONS

There was a lot of reactivism going on in this country for a long time. People complaining, but not offering a alternative. People and non-profits infighting about who’s better, who’s doing things right or wrong.

We don’t believe in that.

This is a time for solutions. A time for action and a plan for that action.

There is a lot of talk on the net and the airwaves about change and making a difference. We think these discussions are important. But Manifesto is not about talking. It’s about sacrifice and willpower. True physical action taken on by committed individuals.

MANIFESTO DEFINITION:

“A public declaration, usually of a prince, sovereign, or other person claiming large powers, showing his intentions, or proclaiming his opinions and motives in reference to some act done or contemplated by him; as, a manifesto declaring the purpose of a prince to begin war, and explaining his motives.”

- Bouvier

THE CHALLENGE

Manifesto is a challenge. To me, to you, to every concerned person. A challenge we make to ourselves and to our brothers and sisters.

Manifesto assumes 3 things:

1. The future is uncertain. It will be largely of our making.

2. Our Manifestos or goals, must be clearly defined, strategized and communicated.

3. Clearly defined goals held by committed, persistent, proactive individuals or groups are often completed successfully. That nature conspires in our favor when we know what we want.

When individuals decide what they want, what they’re dreams are and what they care about, it is an extremely powerful thing. When groups of people decide what they want, it has the potential for history making.

THE EXECUTION

Sound simple? It is. But most of us are trained since childhood to think the opposite - about what we don’t want to happen. So it can be difficult to grasp and believe - until you experience it - and unfortunately it’s not taught in school. Many philosophers and leaders are touching on this concept, like the people who made “The Secret.”

But this movement is about individuals as well as the collective.

So welcome to MANIFESTO.

Are you ready for it?

( If you haven’t written your manifesto, start here. )

Manifesto Pilot and Feature Update

October 23rd, 2007 | Category: Manifesto The documentary, Manifesto: Television

Manifesto Pilot on Hollywood BoulevardThe Manifesto pilot is done. We finished our color correction yesterday. And we’re getting our sound mix back later tonight.

!!!

What’s next?

Well, we could use it as a tiny frisbee. Or maybe stack up the hard drives and make a chair out of it. But I think we’ll give it to one of the 5 or 6 networks/prodcos who’ve asked for it. Some, like A&E have been waiting for awhile. Not that they’ve stopped production of ‘mindfreak’ in solidarity or anything.

The documentary is rocking along as well. We made the Slamdance and the Pare Lorentz deadline. Next is South by Southwest SXSW. The rough cut edit continues and will continue through the end of the year.

If you are in Southern California, we hope that you stay safe. We all want these fires to end soon.

New Meetings + MANIFESTO Pilot

We have new interest on the horizon from two companies.

Namely a TV production company out of New York with 3 big shows on the air. Another is mostly a film production company notable for doing socially conscious film and television projects. Name one of the biggest docs of last year. They produced it.

That said, the G’dang Manifesto pilot is nearly finished. Whew. What a load of work…

The doc is rocking forward and was just entered into Sundance. Next is Slamdance, deadline is Tuesday.
